Scholarship Criteria
Eligibility:
•Applicants or their parents must be a Maxis postpaid customer with a minimum of one year tenure with Maxis postpaid services, having a good payment record with Maxis. Children of Maxis permanent and contract employees are also welcome to apply.
•Applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged 23 years old and below at the point of application.
•Applicants must not be bonded to any body and must have secured an unconditional offer or acceptance from a local or foreign university prior to receiving the Maxis Scholarship for Excellence Award (MSEA).
•Applicants must have completed / are in the final stage of attended foundation courses at the time of applying for this scholarship.
•Applicants who are currently progressing through any stage of their undergraduate studies may also apply for this scholarship.
•Applicants currently in their first or second year of undergraduate studies may also apply for this scholarship.
•Applicants must achieve ALL of the following minimum academic results:
1.Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent: minimum 6 As 2.ANY of the following foundation courses:
1.Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM): 3As
2.Matriculation/Diploma: CGPA 3.5
3.A Level: 3 As
4.Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR): minimum 90.0
5.International Baccalaureate.:36.0
6.Recognized Foundation/Pre-University courses: Equivalent to CGPA 3.5 or above, or
7.International Baccalaureate: 36.0 3.Current undergraduate students: CGPA of 3.5 or equivalent.
•Applicants who at the final stage of their foundation courses may submit their forecast results. However, the results must be final by the stage of second-level interview.
•Applicants are also required to:
•Possess a good command of the English language, both written and oral;
•Excel in extra-curricular activities; and
•Possess leadership qualities.
•For local scholarship application, there is no restriction of applicants’ field of study.
•For overseas scholarship application, the approved fields of study and courses are as below:
•Excel in extra-curricular activities; and
•Possess leadership qualities.

Field of StudyThere is no restriction to applicants’ field of study for local scholarship application. For overseas scholarship application, the approved fields of study and courses are English Language and Literature, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Civil Engineering, Computer Communication, Engineering Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, Telecommunication, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Science Quantitative, Accounting / Finance, Actuarial Science / Studies, Business / Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Human Resources Management, International Relations / Studies, Law, Mass Communication / Public Relations, Media Studies, Organizational /Social Psychology, Public Administration, Sales / Marketing, Sociology, Statistics & Operational Research in Malaysia.
Scholarship PackageIf the scholar is pursuing an undergraduate course in Malaysia, the scholarship awarded can rise to the value of RM10,000 per year till the course is complete. If the scholar is pursuing an undergraduate course overseas / outside Malaysia, the scholarship awarded will be to the value of RM150,000 per year till course completion. The scholarship disbursements are intended to cover the following:
•Tuition fees
•Costs of living
•Books and stationery allowance
•Flight tickets (for overseas scholarship recipients, economy class, one-time return trip)
How To ApplyApplicants must prepare soft copies of the following documents, which should be certified as true copies and uploaded as 6 sets of files in the online application form.
  • -Proof of Age and Mobile Subscription: Certified Birth Certificate, Certified NRIC and the latest Maxis Mobile Postpaid Bill related to the mobile number used for application (in the case of multiple principal & supplementary numbers recorded in one bill, please ensure the page where the phone numbers are listed, is also scanned in),
  • -Academic Results Transcripts: ALL examination results transcripts from school (i.e. UPSR, PMR and SPM), foundation course (i.e. STPM/A-Levels (AS and A2) / Matriculation / Diploma / University Foundation Programme) and undergraduate semesters (for those who already commence undergraduate study).
  • -University Offer: letter of offer / letter of acceptance / letter of admission / enrolment verification letter from the university,
  • -Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation from people who are qualified to provide insight into the applicant’s potential for success and leadership, e.g. club/society advisor, teacher, lecturer or mentor. Recommendation letters from immediate family members and relatives are NOT acceptable.
  • -Resume/Curriculum Vitae: Summary of applicant’s background and achievements, and
  • -Others: Any other documents that applicants wish to submit to strengthen their application, including copies of articles written, reports of volunteer work, extra-curricular certificates etc.
